This concept for GAIL’s Bakery reimagines the high-street coffee experience, blending bold brand storytelling with operational functionality. The project demonstrates TXTURED’s approach to commercial interior design in Manchester and across the UK, creating hospitality spaces that drive customer engagement through sensory depth and distinctive materiality. The brief was to translate the artisanal quality of GAIL’s products into the physical environment, ensuring the space felt established, warm, and unmistakably premium.

The Fig & The Palette

We anchored the aesthetic in the rich, natural hues of a fig, a subtle nod to the ingredients at the heart of the brand. This inspired a bold, immersive colour story. Deep purple tones were carried onto the ceiling, wrapping the space to create a sense of intimacy often missing in high-traffic retail environments. To ground this richness, we paired it with warm brown flooring, establishing a sophisticated coffee shop interior that feels both expansive and cosy.

Tactile Details & Brand Identity

In high-end hospitality design, texture is as important as colour. We introduced organic touches to soften the commercial shell:

  • Natural Materials: Woven light fixtures and natural wood elements bring warmth to the customer touch points.
  • Bespoke Tiling: Fun, textured tiles (inspired by the shape and tones of coffee beans) add a playful yet refined layer of detail to the service counters.
  • Lighting: A layered lighting scheme highlights the product display while creating a "dwell-friendly" atmosphere for seated customers.
The Result

Every aspect of the design balances high-volume functionality with the unique GAIL’s brand identity. The layout optimises customer flow without sacrificing the "slow living" aesthetic that defines the brand. The result is a concept that feels stylish, memorable, and commercially robust.
