Max Coe joins TXTURED as an Interior Designer

Meet Max, Our New Interior Designer.
TXTURED Studio believes in giving back to the community. This month, our team participated in a local charity event, raising funds for underprivileged children.
What inspired you to join TXTURED?
It was the creative side of TXTURED that really stood out. The studio felt different from other interior designers in the North – there was a fresh perspective that I hadn’t really seen before. That difference made me want to push my own boundaries and be part of something exciting.
How would you describe your design aesthetic in three words?
Contemporary, layered, and comforting.
What drew you to the world of interiors in the first place?
For me, it’s about creating spaces that have a real impact on how people live and feel. I love the idea that someone can walk into a space and instantly feel something – a sense of wow, or a new way of seeing what’s possible. It’s about reimagining interiors to enhance everyday life.
Tell me about an average day at TXTURED. What keeps you energised?
No two days are ever the same. There’s always something that needs attention – whether it’s problem-solving, sourcing, or refining the finer details. We always start with priorities, making sure everything is considered and handled to the highest standard. Honestly, what keeps me energised is ticking things off the list and knowing the work is done properly.
What part of the job brings you the most joy?
It’s that moment when all the time spent cross-referencing, refining, and checking every little element comes to life. Seeing the finished project in real life – and more importantly, seeing the client’s reaction – makes all the work worth it.
Do you have a favourite project, and why does it stand out?
I’d say London. The style was something new for me – different from anything I’d worked on before. It really pushed me creatively and gave me a fresh sense of direction for where I want to take my design approach.
How do you start exploring a design concept?
I always start by understanding the client – where they’ve been, what they’ve loved, what inspires them. From there, I start gathering imagery that feels right for the property or project. Part of our job as designers is to take clients beyond their comfort zone, showing them something they might never have considered but will end up loving.
Where do you look for inspiration?
Inspiration is everywhere if you’re open to it – restaurants, hotels, even scrolling online or watching films. It’s about looking beyond the obvious and noticing the details that others might miss. If you read into the textures, shapes, and colours around you, you’ll always find something new.
If you had an unlimited budget and no restraints, what would your dream project be?
I’d love to design a restaurant or a really unique bar – something dark, moody, and layered with character. Commercial spaces like that offer so much creative freedom.
How do you maintain a warm, collaborative vibe with clients and colleagues?
It’s all about listening. Clients have their own vision, and it’s our job to take that on board while guiding them with our expertise. We explain the reasoning behind design decisions, but we also find a middle ground if something doesn’t resonate with them. It’s about working together to find the best solution.
Which textures, materials, or finishes are your current can’t live without?
Natural timbers – always. I love the tones and depth they bring, especially when paired with striking stone or subtle metal elements. Those combinations just feel timeless and rich.
If you weren’t in interiors, what other creative path might you have taken?
Probably something in music. I love how music can shape your mood in the same way interiors can. Creating music, like designing a space, is about connecting with someone on an emotional level.
What future direction excites you most about TXTURED?
Definitely the way we’re growing – taking on bigger and bolder projects, and moving further into commercial spaces alongside our residential work. It’s all about pushing the creative boundaries, and that’s really exciting.
As the studio grows, where do you see your role heading next?
I want to take on more responsibility with projects – running them independently while still collaborating as a team. For me, it’s about building that trust and confidence in my creative vision, from design concepts right through to client communication.
